Ice hockey & Eurovision is on!
Tonight is the night for both Eurovision and ice hockey World Championships. In both events it is not day 1 of the games;
In ice hockey is the quarter finals where yesterday Czech Republic sent team USA home and our neighbors Sweden did the same for Germany. Tonight Finland is against another neighbor Norway, that has performed quite well in the games but – sorry to say – tonight it ends for them. Finland will win 7-2. Game is on...!
Just like Finland scored big time on Tuesday night in Eurovision semifinals: the young guy who I was about to send directly home had quite a show – totally opposite to majority of the songs – and won the hearts of people and earned well a place in the final on Saturday. He is actually the first one to sing so don’t be late!
If you wanna check out the song, here you go! And don't forget to follow the story he is telling...

Can't believe this: A Swede is building up a Hero -character!
Daniel, my main man...!
A man who came from the bushes, was suspected to be a wanna-be, but apparently in one speech turned so many heads around and won the trust of the Swedish people. For the ones who are ignorent, I'm talking about the Prince Daniel from Sweden, husband of the Crown Princess.
At the moment we, the snow countries, have a World Championship battle for the winter sports in Oslo, Norway. Over there the Crown Prince of Norway and his - also from the bushes - wife hosted the future Queen couple of Sweden in the games.
Well, perhaps the love & hate battle that also the Norwegians have against the Swedes, just like we Finns, went too far and Prince D showed his balls to the neighbourg Princess M. Prince D on the right with his finger...
Go D, you have a chance to come to a fraction level of the manhood status that your fellow countryman Lucas has got in my eyes. As both of you have been running a gym and come from a "common" family I will give you a chance to be in the Top 50 of my Swedish Heroes -list.
Still, as I said you have a loooong way to reach Lucas!!!

Many thanks to Swedish press for the pic.

Veeery cold morning, or how would you rate -25C...? Early wake up call to go and cheer my son in his football game - or soccer as some of you know the game.
Yesterday I forgot to use the fantastic feature in the creation of Mr Ford: I didn't set the heater on to make sure the car would be nice, warm and ready for the ride. Well, now I got a good reminder to do it in the future:
The damn car didn't start, perkele!
We were in a rush to get to the game but luckily the other car in the family - more American than the Mr Ford's baby - started and we got to the game on time.
The temp came down during the day and the Ford-baby almost started but no, it didn't. The other American cousin, Chrysler, came to help out and with the cables the Ford-baby finally started. It was not a piece of cake as the cables I have were a bit too thin, even though they were for diesel cars.
Yes, the cabels for diesel car jump start are thicker so be aware of this when you do such stuff. Also the batteries are different so please check a pro before going for operation. And I'm not the pro you need.
The good thing for today was that after getting certain planned deeds done during the afternoon, we had time to take pulkka & sledge and go to have some winter fun. It's funny how should-be-an-adult becomes a kid when given a chance. Perhaps the speed effect has got something to do with it.
And the sledge I was using, my toboggan that I bought in Lillehammer, Norway years ago. Gotta be careful, a colleague broke her coccyx in a toboggan race we had during the same trip I got the sledge from.
I've got a pic of this great piece of snow-machine but you gotta wait for it. Just like you gotta wait for the story and pics of yesterday's little trip on the sea. On foot.
PS What makes a teenager to ask "could we open this pack of biscuits?" just before going to bed? Beats me, but luckily she was smart enough to smile after getting a surprising negative answer...

Let the show begin...!
Tonight is again the night for some good musical and visual entertainment with a bit of cultural flavors: Eurovision song contest. Last year a pretty-boy from Norway won so Norway got to organize the event this year.
As I said some days ago, Finland is out from the final - just like Sweden for the first time. Gotta say I was again surprised to see which songs made it and which were dropped out. Matter of taste, but I can say there is some good fun to watch tonight. In my books this means also some laughter...
My personal favorites are Armenia and Romania, but I give some points to Ukraine too. Check it out and you will understand, fantastic performances :o)
In my mind Greece has got the best message of the night with a song titled "Opa", which is the same as "Hölökynkölökyn" in Finnish.
Opa - Sláinte - Cheers - Kippis - Skål - Sante - Na zdravi - Prost - Salud - Hölökynkölökyn - whatever...!

USA and Canada are back!
If someone had doubts with USA and Canada performance in the ice hockey World Championships, I think the teams showed what they can do;
Even if Norway led 0-1 against Canada, they were beaten 12-1 after a dominating performance.
USA gave a lession to Kazakhstan with a 10-0 win and continued 4-0 against France...
Fairly small ice hockey country Switzerland continued a strong performance by beating Czech 3-2. Let's see how far they can go - so far looks good.

Who would have thought...?
Who would have put the money on Denmark being the first one to secure the place on the 2nd round at the Ice Hockey World Championships? Not me...
USA has lost both games and again, who would have thought this would happen against Denmark and Germany? Good thing for Team USA is that both games were on overtime so they have 2 points, just like Germany from USA win. Finland has got 3 points from the second game, 1-0 win against Germany. Denmark has got 5 points from clear Finland win and overtime win against USA.
We are not alone with the surprise results: Norway won Czech Republic. I’ve actually been in Norway – England(!) ice hockey game back in 2004 in Oslo. They were playing the B-level World Championships and I took my English colleague to the game, first ever for him…
Last games are today, Denmark-Germany and Finland-USA. If Germany wins Denmark - which already is on 2nd round - either Finland or USA is out from the 2nd round.
