Eat and Drink in Belgium - Worth a Visit!

Mrs B posted on Facebook an article that made me miss Belgium - food, drinks and of course the people. Unfortunately I must settle with Finnish, Estonian and Spanish goodies for now...

Check out this link:

10 out of the 13 "foods" or better eatable/drinkable ones are on my preferred list, some of the on TOP5.

Yllä olevasta linkistä pääsee tarkistamaan 13 syytä mennä Belgiaan - tai asua siellä. 10 niistä on minunkin suosikkilistalla ja muutamat TOP5:ssä!

Slowest Intersport launch in history

I came across with pictures I took back in July 2012. They are from the mall of Iso Omena at Espoo, Finland, where sports store Intersport was about to open - in November. I thought it was great to tell about it way ahead of time, but c'mon - what takes 4 months in converting a space from one to another...?

In July this ad states "Intersport to be opened here in November"...

Daycare Show North Korean Style - Pohjois Korealainen Päiväkoti Esitys

Everyone should have a right to express their own opinion. Unfortunately for some people in some countries doing that causes problems, but I hope me telling you guys this doesn't mean I will end up in rehabilitation camp in North Korea.

Finnish tabloid paper's online version Iltasanomat TV posted a video taken in North Korea. It is about daycare children, perhaps 4-6 years old, singing as a choir in a show. Something quite surprising appears at the back during the show. Check it out from this link, wait first for about 10 seconds to view the commercial.

There is in the article also some pictures from the show. The kids also performed a play where brave North Korean soldiers capture evil spies. In the pictures the spies wear helmets, just to clarify to the non-Finnish-speakers.

Talking about brain washing from child age...

...eli lyhyesti sama Suomeksi.

Pohjois Korealla on vakuuttava tyyli muokata jo lasten ajatusmaailmaa ja toimintaa. Näin ainakin on tulkittavissa Iltasanomien jutusta, jossa videolla ja kuvilla, sekä paikan päällä olleen henkilön viestillä värittyy melko vahva valtiojohdon vaikuttamisen tahto.

Päättele itse, juttu löytyy täältä.

PS -17C expected for tomorrow in Southern Finland and -30C up North in Lapland, COOL...!

It's Winter, yippikaieeee!

-15 C to start the morning, great!

What made me smile was a post in a great blog by Tsupukka, check this out - it apparently reserves a space for your self, not the others...

Have a great winter - and weekend!

Running out of Dark Days

As many of you know, the sun has been below the horizon in Lapland, northern  part of Finland for some weeks already. Now those dark days are changing into brightness - slowly, but firmly, and by the end of the week, all areas can at least in theory see the light.

Here is an article from Helsingin Sanomat www.hs.fi from last week;

At Utsjoki the sun was last seen on November 25th so no wonder the alcohol and coffee consumption is so high in Finland. Not to talk about the suicide rates...

Have a great, sunny week you all!

PS -10C, yippekaieeeeeee!

It's Winter (& Food) Time in Espoo, Finland - Finally!!!

Finally the ground is white!

Well, max 1cm but still... The skating track in Tapiola, Espoo has been open for a month and apparently good enough for skating, but now it becomes more winter-like! I like...!

If you visit Tapiola and you are hungry for an outdoor hamburger, you might find this trailer with lux burgers available. Could be excellent after an outdoor skating!

And if those wheels have rolled somewhere else, you can check out the Funky Burger at Ainoa, the ex-Sokos building's upstairs. You can get the baby below even with 3 steaks.

Or the always excellent Grilli Ribis, my favorite!

Bon appétit!

Hyvää Uutta Vuotta - Happy New Year!

New year - something new, something old, something changing, happy! As always.

What bothers me a bit is the lack of snow. It would be great to get some and to be able to enjoy the winter sports. Several ski resorts in southern Finland have been forced to close down due to consistant rain & lack of snow. Even Vihti, the one where I opened my season on December 8th.

Well, the ones who play golf are likely to be happy since they have their golf open...

Have a fabulastic year, hyvää uutta vuotta!!!
